I’ve been a developer since 1994. I started on C++ and shifted to Java at the beginning of the 2000s. The first time I worked with Margo was in 2008, for SGCIB. After a few years break that I spent in the area of Bordeaux, I came back to Margo in 2015 to work on a new project, still using Java. I love getting my hands dirty, that’s why I was interested by Java’s internal running (Garbage Collection, optimization). At the same time, I had access to Linux devices thanks to my commitment in a hosting association and my work as a sys admin in smaller organizations. Docker is the top choice Devops technology, so it naturally interested me.
Today, I work on projects combining my knowledge about Docker, Jenkins, continuous integration and even about Python, which I didn’t know about before starting! My role is to ensure the implementation of the infrastructures inside the Data Lab with data for trading and quants teams in a major company from the Financial Markets industry.
Why did you choose Margo?
Margo was able to offer me interesting missions with transparent relationships with the clients. I felt in a bond of trust right away. When I left to go to the South West of France, Margo proposed me a 50% teleworking contract, which is very rare in this industry and on these kinds of projects.
What interests you in Tech ?
I’ve been developing for 20 years now and I’m still passionate! I like to write clean and efficient code, but also to keep my hand in by solving performance problems or implementing efficient launch and development environments.
Although I focus on the server part, I have also developed an interest in new front end technologies such as AngularJS, Node or Bootstrap.
How does Margo help you to evolve and manage your career?
At Margo, we have regular meetings with two interlocutors, HR and Business, it means we have listening and accompanying levels with each of them.
Moreover, Margo really wants to create and animate internal tech communities by regularly organizing Meet-up and feedback events.
According to you, what are Margo’s daily values?
Tech. Because Margo offers challenging projects for its consultant, with major technical stakes.
I would also said “listening” because it’s pretty rare in a Service Company to feel valued and to have true support from different dedicated interlocutors.
If you had to choose only one word to define Margo, which one would it be and why?
Margo ? Because for me, Margo means expertise, entrepreneurship, strong community and, above all, listening.
